The ONIT Grow™ formulation has successfully been tested on rice crops in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. Extensive testing was performed by the Myanmar’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI) and by independent farmers. The Company recently received confirmation of the test results, which demonstrated significantly improved plant health, pest resistance, and increase in yields. Additionally, ONIT expects final approval from MOALI in the near future, resulting in the ability to begin shipping product to Myanmar.
Agriculture is Myanmar’s main industry, accounting for 60 percent of the GDP and employing some 65 percent of the labor force. Myanmar is the world’s sixth-largest rice-producing country, and rice is grown on over 8 million hectares, or more than half of its arable land. Rice is the country’s most crucial agricultural commodity.
Improving agricultural productivity and promoting rice exports are top priorities for the government of Myanmar, which has the potential to more than double its rice exports by diversifying and increasing rice production.
